desert palo verde at sunset by BECKY JOY

I have this painting, 16x20 on canvas panel, listed on my website for sale for $1200. Click here to purchase

I painted this tree from my imagination. I have done plenty of them in plein air so I am familiar with them. I love the free form of the tree which makes it a perfect subject for using the imagination. I start with a dark form for the overall design, then a lot of back and forth with positive and negative shapes. I had a lot of fun playing with the color also. It is backlit, so the warmer colors on the tree peak out from behind and the front, away from the light source, is cooler in color.
